Call for papers, Asia-Pacific Journal of EU Studies
The Asia-Pacific Journal of EU Studies, which is an official journal of the EU Studies Association of Asia-Pacific (EUSA Asia-Pacific), is published twice a year. The journal is usually published in August (due date: end of June) and in February (due date: end of November). The Journal aims to provide an international forum for the dissemination of academic research and policy debate on the external dimensions and international implications of European issues. The Journal is by nature multidisciplinary, and the research area comprises theoretical and empirical evaluations of European integration, relations between the EU and the Asia-Pacific region, comparative analysis and policy studies, and related issues.

Advertisement for a co-author or collaborator on an unfinished book: “The EU-Taiwan relations in the 1960s-1970s: An Institutional Memory from the Archives”

Retired Prof. Dr. Paul Joseph Lim now on a MOFA Fellowship has been writing a book on the “EEC’s relations with Taiwan in the 1960s-1970s: An Institutional Memory” from the EU side of the story using archival material from the EU institutional archives. He is looking for a Taiwanese co-author to complete the story with the Taiwanese side. Having Taiwanese academic co-author is his ideal.

Short of finding such a co-author, he settles for collaboration, assistance from a doctoral or master student who could be interested in writing their thesis or dissertation on such a period.

The third and last alternative will be simply to find someone who is willing to help him in his research i.e. searching the archives and translating into English. He will find a co-author at a later date.

International Conference on the Comparison of Asian and European Regional Integration ─ The Role of Taiwan

Organized by Wallonie-Bruxelles International, and co-organized by Centre Belge de la Bande Dessinée, the classic comic exhibition was first on display at the 2013 Taipei International Book Fair with Belgium as the theme country. Through these comics, the exhibition allowed the audience to recognize or rediscover the works of over sixty Belgian comic artists from Wallonia-Brussels across the ages. Job description:

About the Speaker:
Edgard Van de Velde was born in Gent (Belgium) in 1949, married in 1979 and has three children.
He obtained his Master’s Degree (1972) and Ph. D. (1984) in Public Management Sciences at the Law School of the University of Gent, where he was Assistant-Lecturer Public and Comparative Constitutional Law from 1975 till 1984.
He was Visiting Professor in Public, European and Comparative Constitutional Law at EHSAL Brussels from 1985 till 2008. He has been guest professor at the universities of Salamanca and San Sebastian (Spain), Salerno (Italy), Tübingen (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic). He has an extensive bibliography on the comparative study of democratic regimes. He was member of the cabinet of the Minister for State Reform (1979-1980) and pre-advisor of the Flemish parliament (1995-1996). From 1996 till 2006 he was appointed successively as General Manager and Managing Director Bankinsurance in the General Savings and Pension Fund (ASLK-CGER) and Fortis Bankinsurance Belgium. He is retired since 2008.

Visiting Professors Obligation
The position is widely opened to any field of European Studies and the primary focus will be 1 or 2 courses teaching of graduate level.

※ EU Economics and Political Economics would be preferred.
The successful appointee will assist and coordinate lectures of 1 or 2 courses during semesters and provide a special lecture in the international conference and EU Study Summer School held by the EU Center.

The successful appointee will contribute to the faculty’s teaching, engage in related professional activities and provide administrative support related to EU Studies.

1. Condition

2. Grant: Flight Charge and Monthly Salary ($2,000-2,500/month)
