In Memory of Giuseppe Izzo, Former Chairman of the ECCT

It is with profound sadness that the European Union Centre in Taiwan (EUTW) mourns the passing of Mr. Giuseppe Izzo on February 17, 2026. Mr. Izzo was the former Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT), the Founder and Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (ICCT), and the Group Vice President of STMicroelectronics.

Former Chairman Izzo was an extraordinary leader and a visionary in Taiwan-EU economic and trade relations. As a steadfast partner of the EUTW for many years, he dedicated his life to bridging the gap between Europe, Italy, and Taiwan. Beyond his significant influence in the semiconductor industry, his forward-looking leadership in sustainability, energy transition, and international talent development left an indelible mark on the bilateral dialogue between Europe and Taiwan.

To the EUTW, Mr. Izzo was more than a highly respected collaborator; he was a passionate, witty, and wise dear friend. His deep affection for Taiwan and his charismatic personality will be fondly remembered and forever cherished.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Izzo’s family, as well as to our colleagues at the ECCT, STMicroelectronics, and the ICCT. His immense contributions leave a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and guide the future of Taiwan-EU relations.
