※ Students who have not taken the above courses but have obtained a B1 or equivalent level in a European language proficiency test (certified by a Taiwanese or foreign institution) must submit the original and a copy of the certificate. Abstract:
Images serve, among other things, to stimulate and organize memory, convey information and express emotions. Beyond these universal functions, they also have the power to make present and transmit what we might call ontologies, that is, sets of qualities detected in beings and things. The four main ones – animism, naturalism, totemism, and analogism – are expressed in a wide variety of images from all five continents, and the lecture will propose an anthropological interpretation of them.
