2022 Taiwan EU Environment and Technology Forum: The Technology Trend and Application of the Energy Storage Industry will be held on 19 May
2022 Taiwan EU Environment and Technology Forum: The Technology Trend and Application of the Energy Storage Industry

In recent years, the government has vigorously promoted the development of renewable energy, power grid management and energy dispatching technology. Therefore, the application and demand of Energy Storage System are widely concerned by the public. The EU promotion of carbon tariffs, under the trend of net zero carbon emissions, has increased the demand for renewable energy by manufacturers. It also increases the importance of Energy Storage System. The Energy Storage System will play a mediating role between renewable energy and the grid, so that the supply and load of
grid can be maintained in a stable balance.

This forum is co-hosted by European Union Centre in Taiwan, Low Carbon Initiative. ECCT, and TÜV Rheinland. We have invited the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, MOEA to attend the forum and also experts from various industries to discuss trends, market, regulations and practical experience which will help the companies to understand the market trends better and to boost the development of the industry. We sincerely welcome your participations.

Call for Papers for the 12th National Graduate Student Workshop on EU Studies 17 June, 2022 (Submission Deadline: 8 April, 2022 )
Theme: EU Challenges in the Post-Pandemic Era and Amid Geopolitical Rivalries In recent years, European countries have faced a multitude of complex challenges — from the COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic economic recovery to global warming, refugee and migration issues, economic restructuring, Eurozone financial stability, democratic backsliding, populism, regulatory harmonization, and industrial transformation.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has further intensified concerns over geopolitical instability, highlighting the importance of Europe’s relations with countries outside the region. These developments pose significant tests not only for individual national governments but also for the unity and effectiveness of institutions like the EU and NATO. Amid this context, Taiwan–EU relations have seen notable progress, underscoring the increasing relevance of European affairs to Taiwan’s future development. To advance domestic research on Europe and the EU, the EU Centre in Taiwan has partnered with universities across Taiwan to organize the National Graduate Student Conference on European Studies since 2011. This year marks the 12th edition, hosted by the Graduate Institute of Political Science at National Sun Yat-sen University, and for the first time, undergraduate students are also invited to participate. EUTW has once again been awarded the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and Jean Monnet Module, making it the institution in Taiwan with the most awards!
Since the inaguration of the European Union Centre in Taiwan at the end of 2008, led by National Taiwan University and in collaboration with six other universities, Taiwan has gradually become an important partner in the regional EU research network. In 2021, amid fierce competition from over 3,000 universities and higher research institutions worldwide, the Centre was once again awarded the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the Jean Monnet Module. The Centre has recently signed an agreement with the European Union, with the related projects set to continue until 2025. The Jean Monnet Programme, named after Jean Monnet, the father of European integration, is an EU initiative aimed at supporting the development of European and EU teaching, research, and exchange cooperation globally.  The program aims to create associated awards, research centers, and avenues for international collaboration at top universities around the world. It is available for universities and research institutions worldwide to apply and participate in competitive evaluation and ranking processes.  In recent years, the selection criteria have become more stringent, leading to institutions emerging as winners from fierce global competition. The recent acknowledgment of the Centre as both a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and a Jean Monnet Module recipient making it the institution in Taiwan with the highest number of awards in this program. The Jean Monnet Programme is managed under the "New Erasmus Programme" by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the EU.  Given Taiwan's strong foundation in higher education and its extensive research capabilities, the EU has repeatedly held information sessions in Taiwan to promote closer cooperation in research and education between the EU and Taiwan and to deepen the exchange of talent between both sides.
